I used it for my eldest son for the first time in 2017. It was a delightful way to teach him to read.  Today he is a fluent reader with an excellent grasp of spelling.” - “My second son, was a completely different story. Read has not been easy for him. We have been working on level 1 AAR for years. And finally this year we have graduated to level 2. He has gained so much confidence in reading and spelling.” - 📌 Two things has stood out for me in this journey: 1) I love that All About Reading is such a flexible program, for both the fast learner and the slower learner. It truly give you the ability to adjust the pace to your child's needs. Even when reading was very difficult, games and stories of AAR remain delightful. - 2) Children are individuals and that is beautiful. You can have the best program in the world, but a child must be developmentally ready to read. Trust the process. 🗣 The Power Of Narration | Narration is a term 🗣 The Power Of Narration | Narration is a term to describe the art of telling back. These days we would probably use the term comprehension for children who have read something and then answer a series of questions on the passage. In a sense this is part of what narration is. - 💭 Narration is something our children naturally do when they have learnt something either by their own observation or because of a book they have read. When your young child comes in and tells you all about the butterfly they saw in the garden – they are narrating. - 🤔 If this natural ability to tell back what they have learnt is not squelched by well-meaning educators who formalize it too quickly by making it a written record, our children can continue to tap into its power. - 📝 Once your child has read two or three pages of a book, ask them to tell it back to you. They can use their own words and be sure to not interrupt the telling.
